why choose the atlanta north school?

Guiding Principles
Atlanta North School Atlanta North School is committed to the provision of a stimulating, happy and safe environment where each child has the opportunity to fully develop spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically. We offer a Christian learning community; our classrooms are Christ-centered. It is our goal to help students develop a Christian character. We strive to provide a family atmosphere where students will feel comfortable. Students are always encouraged to assist each other.

Scholastic Excellence & Accreditation

Did you know that students in Seventh Day Adventists schools consistently rank higher than the national average on standardized achievement tests? We seek students who are seeking excellence.

Atlanta North School is proud to be accredited by the following organizations:

  1. Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA)
  2. Georgia Association of Private Schools and Colleges (GAPSAC)
  3. National Council of Private School Accreditation (NCPSA)
  4. Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)

Atlanta North School uses the curriculum as set out by Adventist Edge.  Click here to download our curriculum by grade (in PDF). This curriculum offers excellent academics that is God-centered, results oriented, set in an environment that nurtures

Great Value

We realize that Christian education is expensive and can be a financial sacrifice.  But, at Atlanta North School we have worked hard to make it affordable.  Our parent church located on the same property has subsidized much of the cost to run a school making our education more affordable than many other schools in our area.  The tuition cost at the Atlanta North School is about 1/3 to 1/2 less than most private Christian schools. Without compromising quality we make private Christian education affordable with keen administration and funding assistance from our accompanying church. To see our tuition costs click here.

Physical Features

Located in the heart of Dunwoody and easily accessible from most parts of North Atlanta, we are only 3 miles from I-285, GA-400 and Perimeter Mall. With room to grow the school is comfortably located in its own three story building and has five classrooms, a Lunch Room, Library, Music Room, Full Kitchen, Computer Lab, Indoor Gymnasium, Outdoor Playground, Chapel and Offices. Parental Involvement

Information to parents is provided through weekly newsletters and the web site, formal parent teacher conferences and the opportunity to contact the school whenever necessary. Parents are welcome and encouraged to volunteer their time.

Instructional Practices
Our teachers use a variety of instructional practices including cooperative learning and thematic instruction. These teaching techniques have been proven to be effective methods. Our staff stays knowledgeable of current trends and practices in education by attending workshops and conferences throughout the year. We try to meet the needs of all of the children by making adaptations in each classroom to accommodate students with different learning styles. Quality Leadership
Atlanta North School has only accredited/certified teachers in each classroom that are audited on an quarterly basis.  Learn about our Principal by clicking here.

Technology

Our technology project was launched a few years ago when involved parents wanted to improve the school curriculum. A technology committee was formed and the wheels were set in motion.

Our technology package consists of a centralized computer lab which houses the 'nerve center' for video, data, satellite and telephone systems. The lab has enough computers for our largest class size.

Each classroom has a wall-mounted TV monitors with VCR, all attached to 'command central' media news room. With these monitors, students can view educational programming from satellite, make programs of their own, as well as keep up with current world happenings.

After School, Before School and Lunches
Atlanta North School offers early morning drop off by 7:30 AM and after school care until 6:00 PM.  Hot lunches are provided at an extra cost 2 to 3 days per week.

Morning News Program
Students take turns anchoring the Morning News. The news includes school happenings, world events and the day's weather. The program is broadcast live to each classroom through closed circuit video on 32" TVs located in each classroom. The program gives an excellent opportunity to practice communication skills and keeps the students involved in the school events.
